The Arab Dress System, that developed as a result of the Arab Conquest, was comprehended by three cultural zones; Arabian clothing consisting of flowing untailored garments, Hellenistic Mediterranean, which was characterized by Tunics and wraps, and Irano-Turkic Central Asian, of fitted and tailored garments that consisted of pants, coats, and jackets, yet various items of clothing of these larger civilizations had made their way into Arabia before the expansion of Islam. In fact a fusion of these modes were spread by the fringe zones through cultural osmosis, the Ghassanids in Syria, the Lakhmids, in Al Hira, in Southern Iraq and the Yemenites in Southern Arabia. It evolved gradually to become the Arab Clothing System.
